The Agra fort is one of the finest mughal fort in India, it is about 2.5km distance to Taj Mahal. Emperor the great Akbar had it rebuilt with red sandstone, some 1444,000 builders worked on it daily for 8 years, completing it in 1573.
Akbar had good times with walls on 3 sides and in between is a cascade like fountain not exactly a fountain because water floating it in and it is suppose to evaporate which causes cooling and room gets cooled. After Akbar’s grandson shah jahan came into power he made further additions to the fort using his favorite material -marble, he transformed the military structure into a palace and later it became a gilded prison for shah jahan when his son Aurangzeb seized power in 1658.
